Fact-Checking Kevin G's Age: Unraveling the Web's Most Confusing Search
By Alexander Ross
For millions of millennial and Gen Z viewers, Kevin G is forever frozen at 16 years old. In Tina Fey's 2004 comedy classic Mean Girls, Kevin Gnapoor was the self-described "mathlete, bad-ass M.C." whose holiday talent show rap became an enduring piece of pop culture trivia. The performance felt so authentic that fans spent decades assuming the character was an older stand-up comic or a college-age performer cast to play young.
The reality is the reverse. Actor Rajiv Surendra was born on January 28, 1989, in Toronto, Ontario. When principal photography for Mean Girls wrapped in late 2003, Surendra was barely 15 years old, making him one of the few actors in the production who was actually younger than the character he portrayed. Lindsay Lohan was 17, and Rachel McAdams was 25.
Surendra largely stepped away from Hollywood acting after his bid to star in the film adaptation of Life of Pi fell through, a grueling journey he candidly documented in his 2016 memoir, The Boy with the Cuckoo Clock in His Heart. Today, at 37 years old, Surendra has built a dedicated international following as a master calligrapher, chalk artist, and historic preservation enthusiast. His video series on bookbinding and traditional crafts regularly draw millions of views, shocking casual fans who only remember his gold-chain-wearing high school persona.
