Fact-Checking Keith Morrison's Career, Marriage, and Public Statements on the Matthew Perry Tragedy
Before becoming the defining face of American network true-crime, Keith Morrison spent two decades shaping national political coverage in Canada. Born on July 2, 1947, in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Morrison worked his way through regional radio and local television outlets in Saskatchewan, Vancouver, and Toronto. His poise caught the eye of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), where he served as an anchor and national reporter throughout the 1970s.
By 1982, Morrison moved to CTV, co-hosting Canada AM and later anchoring national evening broadcasts while reporting on major global affairs from the Ottawa press gallery. His reporting caught the attention of NBC News brass in the United States, prompting a cross-border jump in 1986 to co-anchor morning broadcasts at KNBC in Los Angeles. Aside from a brief return to Canadian television in the early 1990s, his home base became NBC News. In 1995, he officially joined Dateline NBC, transforming the newly restructured newsmagazine into an enduring television powerhouse.
