The release of Primetime, directed by Lance Oppenheim and starring Robert Pattinson, sparked fresh curiosity regarding Hansen's real family. The film centers on an ambitious, morally compromised television host who operates an immersive entrapment show for an aggressive cable network.

While the film serves as a psychological critique rather than an authorized biography, the parallels to Hansen's career are undeniable. In late May 2026, Hansen issued cryptic social media comments regarding Pattinson's casting. By September 2026, he had published an extensive video breakdown offering his perspective on the film's artistic liberties.

The movie explores how an obsessive focus on ratings and hunting criminals can erode a broadcaster's domestic foundations. In reality, the dissolution of Hansen's home life was less about the psychological trauma of catching criminals and more about classic tabloid pressures: marital infidelity, mid-life career instability, and catastrophic mismanagement of post-network finances.

Audiences expecting a Hollywood thriller narrative where the investigator's children get drawn into the underworld will find real life much more mundane. Chase and Connor Hansen simply grew up, watched their parents separate, and chose normal careers over the circus of television fame.
