By Sophia Al-Mansoor
Q1: What exact lyric did Lil Yachty say about Billie Eilish?
On the track "Another Late Night" from Drake's 2023 album For All the Dogs, Lil Yachty raps: "She had big tits like Billie Eilish, but she couldn't sing."
Q2: Did Billie Eilish give Lil Yachty permission beforehand?
Neither artist confirmed whether the line was cleared prior to recording. However, Eilish clarified on the red carpet at Variety’s Power of Women event that she was close friends with Yachty and found the lyric funny and flattering.
Q3: Why did the lyric cause such an intense controversy online?
Eilish spent the early stages of her career deliberately wearing oversized clothing to avoid public commentary on her body. Because her physical appearance had historically been a lightning rod for unsolicited media scrutiny, many fans initially viewed the lyric as inappropriate.
Q4: How did Lil Yachty respond to the public backlash?
Yachty largely let the music speak for itself. He avoided lengthy defensive statements online, confident that his real-life friendship with Eilish would speak for itself once the media asked her directly.
