Everything You Need to Know About the New Jaguar Logo and Type 01 Ev
Rarely has a corporate graphic update sparked such vicious cultural commentary. The introductory campaign launched in November 2024 featured brightly clad models wielding sledgehammers and stepping through neon geometric landscapes, accompanied by the mantra: "Copy Nothing." The promotional videos conspicuously omitted any images of motorcars. The rollout triggered instant polarization across social media networks, drawing public derision from high-profile commentators and confusing longtime car collectors.
JLR Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern and Managing Director Rawdon Glover anticipated the pushback. Speaking at the Type 00 reveal, Glover explained that chasing mainstream German executive fleet sales had steadily degraded Jaguar's residual values, brand equity, and profit margins for twenty years. The company needed to sever ties with the fleet-lease market entirely.
The "Copy Nothing" phrase directly quotes founder Sir William Lyons, who insisted an authentic Jaguar must stand as an original piece of design. JLR calculated that offending traditionalists was a necessary cost of gaining entry into contemporary design galleries, luxury fashion houses, and younger tech-wealth circles in North America, China, and the Middle East.
