By Maya Lin-Takahashi
Q1: What species of lizard is Miss Crawly in Sing?
A1: Miss Crawly is an aged green iguana (Iguana iguana). The filmmakers designed her with typical iguana features like loose throat dewlaps, scaled skin, and elongated claws, while exaggerating her age for comedic effect.
Q2: Who voices Miss Crawly in the Sing franchise?
A2: She is voiced by British director, screenwriter, and producer Garth Jennings, who directed both Sing and Sing 2. He originally recorded her dialogue as temporary scratch vocals before the studio decided to keep his performance permanently.
Q3: Why does Miss Crawly's glass eye keep falling out?
A3: Her loose glass eye is a central recurring gag. In the first film, it accidentally rolls over Buster Moon’s keyboard, causing the audition flier typo that changed the cash prize from $1,000 to $100,000.
Q4: What song is Miss Crawly listening to in the car in Sing 2?
A4: She listens and screams along to "Chop Suey!" by the Armenian-American metal band System of a Down while driving through the desert to find Clay Calloway.
Q5: Does Miss Crawly have a romantic partner in the movies?
A5: In the main theatrical films, she remains unmarried and focused on her job. However, the mini-movie short Love at First Sight (featured on the Sing home release) follows her comedic attempts to find a match through an online dating service.
