Does Patti Lupone Have Children? Separating Rumors from Verified Facts
Growing up in the wings inevitably exposed Joshua to the craft of classical performance. Rather than seeking out instant teen stardom on screen, he pursued rigorous classical training, eventually crossing paths with an organization woven into his mother’s own origins: The Acting Company.
The Acting Company was founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley, formed out of the first graduating class of the Juilliard School’s Drama Division. Patti LuPone was a charter member of that historic ensemble alongside Kevin Kline and David Ogden Stiers.
Four decades later, Joshua Johnston walked that identical path. In 2014, he toured the United States with The Acting Company, performing as a repertory member in dual productions of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. LuPone openly celebrated her son’s opening night with the troupe, noting the emotional full-circle moment of seeing him cut his teeth in the exact company that had launched her professional life.
Joshua did not use his parentage as a shortcut to commercial fame. He has worked as a dedicated stage actor and voice talent, treating the craft with the discipline of an ensemble worker rather than riding the coattails of an icon.
