Diy Maintenance Boom Sparks Confusion: What Dl Means When Replacing Chainsaw Parts
Finding the exact DL count for your saw does not require complex tools. In most cases, manufacturers stamp the entire sizing formula directly into the metal near the motor end of the guide bar. Removing the bar and wiping away built-up chain oil and sawdust typically reveals a string of numbers indicating length, pitch, gauge, and drive link count.
If the stamping has worn away through heavy friction, you must count the links manually. Remove the chain from the bar, lay it flat on a clean workbench, and mark one drive link with a paint pen or piece of tape. Count every lower fin around the entire inside loop until you return to the starting point. That final integer is your replacement DL metric.
