Did Valkyrae Break Convention Records at Twitchcon 2022 San Diego? Fact Check
By James H. Sterling
The events surrounding Hofstetter's brief walk through the San Diego Convention Center exposed how thoroughly modern fandom transcends corporate walls. TwitchCon remains an effective marketing showcase for Amazon's livestreaming ecosystem, but the attendees who buy tickets view the culture through a different lens. They consume short clips on TikTok, watch VODs on YouTube, view lifestyle updates on Instagram, and jump into live chats wherever their favorite broadcasters happen to land.
Hofstetter did not need a purple partner badge or a reserved keynote slot to command the floor. The disruption she triggered in San Diego was physical proof that top-tier creators carry independent cultural equity. As conventions continue to adapt their floor plans and security protocols, the line between competing platforms matters far less than the gravity of the personalities walking the hall.
