Costco Dinosaur Water Slide Sells out Nationwide: Is the Viral $350 Backyard Park Worth It?
By James H. Sterling
How much electricity does the continuous air blower consume during an afternoon of play?
Standard blowers packaged with Costco water slides draw between 680 and 750 watts (roughly 6 to 6.5 amps on a standard household 110, 120V outdoor outlet). Running the blower for four continuous hours uses approximately 2.8 to 3.0 kilowatt-hours (kWh). At average US utility rates of 16 cents per kWh, continuous inflation costs less than $0.50 per afternoon in electrical power.
Can the dinosaur water slide be safely used without running the water attachments?
Yes. The structure works effectively as a dry bounce and climb slide during cooler spring and autumn months. Parents frequently place plastic ball-pit balls in the empty splash basin to convert the lower deck into a dry ball pit, multiplying seasonal use beyond hot summer heatwaves.
What should I do if the material sustains a puncture from a sharp lawn stick?
Most units ship with an emergency repair kit containing circular PVC/nylon patches and waterproof vinyl adhesive. For small pinholes, standard PVC repair glue or tear-aid fabric tape applied to clean, bone-dry fabric seals leaks reliably. Because continuous-air units rely on steady intake rather than sealed pressure, small pinholes along stitched seams rarely compromise slide safety.
Is warehouse pricing consistently lower than online Costco pricing?
Yes. In-store warehouse pricing for the slide averages $349.99, while Costco.com lists the item between $399.99 and $419.99. The $50 to $70 markup online covers freight delivery costs for a heavy, oversized 65-pound carton shipped directly to your doorstep.
