Brad Mondo's Evolution: from Salon Floor Sweeper to Openly Gay Mogul
For the first few years of his rising online footprint, fans constantly questioned Mondo's orientation in comment sections. Hairdressing culture has long been synonymous with queer creativity, yet the commercial front of mass-market haircare brands was historically controlled by heteronormative executive suites. In March 2018, Mondo posted a sit-down video titled simply "Coming Out."
The video avoided melodrama. Mondo explained that he had realized he was gay early in adolescence, navigating the private anxieties common among small-town teens in the 2000s before gradually coming out to his family and close friends in his late teens. The reaction from his family, including his father, who supported his artistic drive from day one, was deeply reassuring. Releasing that video established a clear boundary: Mondo refused to hide who he was, yet he simultaneously rejected turning his private dating life into daily social media fodder.
