Big Met Course Championship Results: Highlights from the 2026 Gcac Qualifier
By Elena Rostova
With Big Met's results now entered into the CMG golf events record, the focus shifts across town to the Sleepy Hollow Course Championship in mid-July. Sleepy Hollow presents an entirely different physical test: massive elevation changes, punishing deep ravines, and dramatic green tiers that dwarf the gentler slopes of Big Met.
Golfers advancing from the Fairview Park qualifier know that Sleepy Hollow will demand higher ball flights and exceptional lag putting. The qualifiers emerging from Big Met carry valuable early-summer competitive reps, but their margins for error will shrink on the Brecksille bluffs. In past seasons, players who caught fire at Big Met maintained their momentum into August, utilizing confident ball striking to challenge the entrenched favorites at the GCAC finals.
The Cleveland Metroparks competitive structure remains one of the strongest public golf ecosystems in the Midwest. By pairing accessible municipal courses with strict tournament conditions and USGA standards, it provides regional amateurs an authentic tour-style crucible without country club initiation barriers.
