Behind the Viral Search: Did Fender Ever Release an Uncensored Bunny Graphic Guitar?
By James H. Sterling
Q1: Did Fender ever make a guitar with full-frontal nudity on the body?
A1: No. Fender has never officially sanctioned, produced, or sold an instrument featuring uncensored or explicit adult artwork. All factory Custom Shop runs, including the 1993 Playboy 40th Anniversary model, adhered to artistic pinup styling without explicit depictions.
Q2: How much is an authentic 1993 Fender Playboy Stratocaster worth today?
A2: In the current 2026 collector market, an authenticated Custom Shop Playboy 40th Anniversary Stratocaster complete with its original leather case, commemorative jacket, and certificate sells for between $12,000 and $18,000 depending on condition.
Q3: How can I tell if an airbrushed graphic Fender is factory original or an aftermarket paint job?
A3: Inspect the serial number format, examine the neck pocket for official Fender Custom Shop stamps, look for an embedded artist signature under the factory lacquer, and demand the original Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity. Guitars lacking factory documentation are almost universally third-party refinishes.
