Are Jada and Mikey Williams Related? the Real Truth Behind the Viral Hoops Stars
By James H. Sterling
The rumors did not emerge from a vacuum. Between 2019 and 2022, San Diego served as the epicenter of viral prep basketball in the United States.
Mikey Williams exploded onto the national radar at San Ysidro High School, south of downtown San Diego near the Mexican border. As an undersized, hyper-athletic freshman, he dropped 77 points in a single game in November 2019, instantly transforming gym gymnasiums into security-heavy spectacles. Across town at La Jolla Country Day School, Jada Williams arrived after moving from Kansas City, Missouri, bringing an elite handle, lockdown perimeter defense, and an equally rabid digital audience.
Both athletes shared training facilities, crossed paths at local showcase runs, and appeared side by side on platforms like Overtime, SLAM, and Ballislife. When cameras captured two elite prospects bearing the name "Williams" dominating the same county’s circuit, casual viewers connected imaginary dots. Online fan edits paired their highlights together, racking up millions of views on TikTok and Instagram, while comment sections repeatedly affirmed the false narrative that they were high-achieving siblings raised in the same household.
