Apple Pencil Not Charging? the Real Reasons and How to Fix It Fast
The Apple Pencil uses low-energy Bluetooth to coordinate its internal battery reporting with the host device. When iPadOS encounters an interrupted pairing state, it may stop routing power to the charging pads. Resolving this glitch requires clearing out the corrupted pairing profile.
First, navigate to Settings > Bluetooth. Locate your Apple Pencil in the "My Devices" list. Tap the blue "i" icon next to it and select Forget This Device.
Next, perform a forced system reboot on your iPad to purge background memory leakages in the hardware daemon:
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold the Top Power button continuously. Ignore the "slide to power down" interface on screen. Keep holding the button down until the Apple logo appears, then let go.
Once the operating system finishes rebooting, navigate back to your home screen and dock the stylus firmly onto the magnetic rail (or plug the Lightning/USB-C connection directly into the tablet). Wait 30 seconds. A fresh Bluetooth pairing prompt will appear. Tap "Pair" to establish a clean handshake. In roughly 70% of non-hardware failures, this simple software refresh solves the charging freeze.
