Aniya Harvey and Dad Donnell Harvey: Photos, Career Stats, and Family Tree
The Dallas Mavericks selected Donnell Harvey with the 22nd overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft. Before ever wearing a Dallas uniform, he was traded on draft night to the Denver Nuggets alongside John Wallace for Tariq Abdul-Wahad and a future first-round selection. Denver gave Harvey his early professional reps, where he spent two seasons battling Western Conference frontcourts.
He was traded back to Dallas in 2002. Harvey contributed off the bench for Don Nelson’s high-scoring Mavericks squad, providing rebounding and interior defense in relief of Dirk Nowitzki and Raef LaFrentz. Across his subsequent stops with the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and New Jersey Nets, Harvey earned respect as an unselfish energy big man who did the dirty work on the glass.
After concluding his stateside NBA stint in 2005, Harvey embarked on an expansive international career. He logged stops in Greece with Panionios, Turkey with Beşiktaş, and spent multiple seasons dominating the paint in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), including stints with the Jiangsu Dragons and Tianjin Ronggang. That globetrotting journey gave his children an early, firsthand view of professional sports dedication.
