Before Hollywood built infinite cinematic universes, Sam & Cat operated as a live-action playground for Nickelodeon veterans. The crowning moment arrived with the 2014 special episode "#TheKillerTunaJump," a deliberate nod to Happy Days.

The network reunited characters from both foundational shows:

• Elizabeth Gillies reprised her fan-favorite role as Jade West from Victorious, instantly reigniting the caustic dynamic between Jade and Sam.
• Matt Bennett returned as Robbie Shapiro, Cat Valentine's long-running love interest, delivering closure that Victorious fans never received due to that series' abrupt ending.
• Nathan Kress stepped back into Freddie Benson’s tech-savvy shoes from iCarly, sparking competitive banter between Sam’s former flame and Cat’s past suitors.

Beyond teen-star cameos, the production secured notable vintage Hollywood talent. Comedy legends Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams reunited on screen in the episode "#SalmonCat," playing a feud-driven 1970s television duo in a direct tribute to their historic Laverne & Shirley partnership. These casting feats highlighted the cultural cachet the series carried before backstage tensions collapsed the operation.
