Adam Gontier Relationship Timeline: from Naomi Brewer to Current Family Life
Adam Gontier and Naomi Faith Brewer met as teenagers in Norwood, a rural township of barely 2,000 residents in eastern Ontario. Long before Three Days Grace signed to Jive Records, Brewer witnessed the band's transition from their original garage incarnation, Groundswell, into a focused alternative rock quartet. The small-town environment bound them tightly together.
By the time the band's self-titled debut dropped in July 2003, Brewer was already deeply entrenched in Gontier’s writing process. The breakout anthem "I Hate Everything About You" captured the circular, exhausting friction of turbulent young relationships. While listeners debated whether the track tackled substance reliance or toxic romance, Gontier frequently acknowledged that the line between human codependency and chemical addiction was blurry in his writing. The couple married in May 2004, just as the band’s touring schedule exploded across North America.
Success brought relentless pressure. Gontier spent weeks living on tour buses, detached from home life, while grappling with the rapid onset of a devastating OxyContin dependency.
